Seattle’s Bitter Lake neighborhood was the scene of a fatal incident on Thursday night, as a 29-year-old man was shot and killed. The Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded to reports of a shooting on the 12500 block of Aurora Avenue North, just west of Haller Lake, around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts to save his life, the victim passed away from his injuries at the scene.
Photographs and videos from the area show a red or maroon vehicle that had crashed into a tree in a parking lot. The scene of the crash was surrounded by police tape. The car’s front and rear windshields were riddled with bullet holes. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported hearing around eight gunshots and seeing the victim inside the vehicle before he exited and attempted to flee. However, he collapsed nearby.
The SPD has yet to determine the events leading up to the shooting, and no suspect information has been provided. The motive behind the deadly attack remains under investigation.
The shooting has left the Bitter Lake community on edge, as residents grapple with the unsettling reality of violence in their neighborhood. Damaris Paz, a resident living in the vicinity, expressed her concern about the incident. She said that she lived around the corner from the place where the shooting victim was killed. The woman had seen other similar incidents take place in the area, growing her concern over her safety.
Local authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The SPD is working diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting and bring the perpetrator to justice.
