Father shot after chasing scooter thieves

A Colorado man lost his life in a tragic incident while trying to prevent an alleged theft from his own property. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Paris Street, located in the Del Mar Park neighborhood of Aurora, Colorado. Upon receiving a report of a shooting, local law enforcement arrived at the scene to find a 49-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound inside his home. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the police and other first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The police report revealed that the man and his son were roused from their sleep by the sound of two individuals purportedly attempting to steal scooters from their backyard. The father and son duo confronted the alleged thieves, who managed to escape on the stolen scooters. Undeterred, the pair pursued the suspects in a pickup truck, during which gunshots were fired at their vehicle.

After the chase, the father and son returned to their home. Shortly after, a vehicle drove past their residence, discharging several rounds of gunfire into the house. This is believed to be when the man was fatally wounded.

In the course of their investigation, police identified multiple locations related to the incident, including various neighborhood yards where the stolen scooters were later found. The suspects remain unidentified, but authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
