FedEx driver ejected from truck in fiery crash

DEERFIELD, IL – A FedEx driver tragically lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a devastating crash on Interstate 294 in Illinois. The fatal incident occurred at mile marker 52.5, according to reports from the Illinois State Police Department and the Northbrook Fire Department.

Upon their arrival at the scene, authorities discovered the semi-truck had collided with a guardrail before bursting into flames. The violent impact of the crash caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle. Video footage captured at the scene showed the semi-truck engulfed in flames, with packages scattered across the interstate.

The driver, whose identity has not yet been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, was transported to Glenbrook Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was later pronounced dead.

Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before it was fully extinguished. The fire not only consumed the semi-truck but also one of the trailers it was towing. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police.

FedEx has yet to issue a statement or comment on the incident.
