Female student killed by armed intruder

KENNESAW, GA – A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, as an armed individual infiltrated the campus, resulting in the death of a female student. The university confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect had been apprehended.

The university reassured the public that there was no longer any threat to the campus community. The Kennesaw State University Police are collaborating with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident further. The university promised to keep the public informed as more details become available.

The fatal shooting occurred around 4 p.m., sending shockwaves across the campus. The university promptly alerted students and staff about the armed intruder, urging them to seek shelter in a secure location.

Approximately 45 minutes after the incident, the university issued an “all clear” notice, confirming that the suspect was no longer a threat to the campus. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the university, is currently investigating the incident.

This unfortunate event follows a similar incident that occurred three months ago when Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, was murdered while jogging on trails around the University of Georgia campus. The suspect, Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuelan national living illegally in the U.S., was charged with her murder.

Earlier this month, a Georgia grand jury indicted Ibarra on multiple charges, including malice murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, aggravated battery, obstructing or hindering a person from making a 911 call, tampering with evidence, and being a “peeping Tom.”
