The network’s chief meteorologist, Ginger Zee, reportedly overheard the altercation and decided to report it to network leadership, citing previous complaints about Marciano’s behavior on set.
According to sources, Marciano’s firing was a result of a history of complaints against him for inappropriate workplace behavior, making this particular incident the final straw for the network. ABC News declined to comment on the matter, and both Zee and Marciano did not respond to requests for statements.
Reports surfaced earlier about Marciano’s termination over anger issues, but details of the actual confrontation that led to his dismissal were not publicly disclosed. The New York Post revealed that Marciano and Zee had a tumultuous working relationship for years and did not collaborate well.
Marciano, who joined ABC News in 2014, had previously been banned from the GMA studio in 2022 due to anger management issues, a prohibition that lasted approximately a year.
