Five people shot during a fight at a nightclub

A deadly shooting occurred at an after-hours club in southeast Houston on Sunday morning, resulting in one fatality and four individuals sustaining gunshot wounds. The incident took place at approximately 4:37 a.m. in the 9200 block of the Gulf Freeway. Houston Police Department officers, who were already investigating a separate case, were alerted when a group of people fled the club and frantically reported shots being fired. Simultaneously, emergency dispatchers received a call regarding the shooting at the same location.

Upon arriving at the scene, one of the responding officers promptly administered first aid to one of the victims, potentially saving their life. Executive Assistant Chief Ban Tien commended the officer’s swift action in assisting the victim. Detectives were seen investigating the aftermath of the incident, as authorities revealed that the shooting stemmed from an argument between two men in the club’s parking lot.

One of the individuals involved brandished a firearm, prompting the other to urge him to engage in a physical altercation instead. The armed man initially complied, stowing away his weapon. However, he later retrieved it and opened fire, striking the person he had been arguing with. In the process, he also shot their friends and innocent bystanders.

Two men were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while three others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, one of the critically injured victims succumbed to their wounds. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. The Houston Police Department is actively investigating the incident and appealing to the public for any information that may aid in identifying and apprehending the shooter.
