Five people shot in nightclub

WASHINGTON, DC – A violent incident unfolded late Friday night in a nightclub located in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle neighborhood, resulting in several injuries.

Local law enforcement, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), reported to the scene of the crime in the vicinity of Connecticut Ave Northwest and 18th Street Northwest shortly before midnight. Upon arrival, officers discovered five adults suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims, all adults, were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. According to MPD Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle, their injuries, while significant, are not believed to be life-threatening.

In the aftermath of the shooting, police were able to apprehend one suspect. Additionally, a firearm was recovered from the scene, further solidifying the case against the individual in custody.

The incident reportedly began with a disagreement inside the nightclub. The dispute escalated, eventually spilling out into the street and culminating in the shooting. Assistant Chief Kyle confirmed this sequence of events in a video message.

The MPD has since secured the scene and reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat. The investigation into the shooting continues.
