Four killed after train collides with truck

BOISE, ID – A tragic collision between a train and a pickup truck in rural Idaho has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, according to local authorities. The incident occurred on Saturday when the vehicle, carrying two adults and two children, was struck by a train at a railroad crossing.

The Idaho State Police reported that the victims were a 38-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, accompanied by two minors, all residents of Nampa. The pickup was traversing a private road that intersected with a railway crossing. The driver, for reasons yet to be determined, did not yield to the oncoming train, resulting in the fatal collision.

The accident took place near the town of Notus, approximately 35 miles northwest of Boise. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

The process of informing the next of kin is currently being handled by the local coroner’s office in collaboration with the state police. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending this notification.

The incident underscores the importance of exercising caution at railroad crossings, particularly in rural areas where visibility may be limited. The Idaho State Police are urging drivers to always yield to oncoming trains, regardless of the perceived distance or speed of the train.
