Four unidentified victims after fiery head on crash

ESPAÑOLA, NM – Authorities are continuing their efforts to identify the four victims of a devastating two-vehicle collision that occurred in New Mexico on Saturday. The fatal incident took place on U.S. Highway 84, approximately 20 miles northwest of Española, according to state police.

Police reports indicate that the call came in around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, alerting officers to the scene of the accident. The collision, described as head-on, involved a jeep and a pickup truck, each carrying two passengers.

Upon arrival, officers discovered both vehicles completely engulfed in flames. Despite the quick response, all four individuals involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Police crash reconstruction unit has been called in to assist with the investigation. They are currently working to piece together the events leading up to the fatal collision, in an attempt to understand what might have caused such a tragic incident.
