GANG AMBUSH HORROR: Missionary Couple and Director Fatally Shot in Haiti Near Port-au-Prince

Port-au-Prince, Haiti – A tragic incident unfolded when local director of Missions in Haiti Inc., Jude Montis, along with missionary couple Davy and Natalie Lloyd from the U.S., were mercilessly attacked and shot to death by gang members after leaving a church youth group activity. The horrifying event took place in the community of Lizon in northern Port-au-Prince, marking a devastating loss for both the Haitian and American communities.

Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Haiti’s capital, plagued by the control of violent gangs, the tragic deaths of Montis and the Lloyd couple have sent shockwaves through the region. Authorities are awaiting the arrival of a police force from Kenya as part of a U.N.-backed deployment to combat the escalating gang violence in the troubled Caribbean country.

The missionary work of Missions in Haiti Inc., founded by Davy Lloyd’s parents David and Alicia Lloyd from Oklahoma, has been focused on making a difference in the lives of Haiti’s young people through spreading the Gospel of Christ. The organization has dedicated efforts towards helping children in Haiti who are often plagued by poverty, malnutrition, and lack of education, offering essential services such as housing, schooling, and support.

Davy Lloyd, who grew up in Haiti alongside his family’s missionary work, married Natalie Lloyd in June 2022 and together they embarked on a journey to continue humanitarian efforts in Haiti. Montis, a longstanding member of Missions in Haiti, had dedicated 20 years to the organization’s mission of serving the Haitian community, especially focusing on providing a safe haven for children in need.

The fatal attack that claimed the lives of Davy, Natalie, and Montis occurred as they were leaving a church, where they were ambushed by gang members in three trucks. Amidst the chaos, the group sought refuge in a house connected to their mission, only to face a relentless assault from the armed gunmen who ultimately took their lives.

The heartbreaking loss has left behind grieving families, with Montis leaving behind two young children, and the Lloyd family grappling with immense grief and shock. Efforts are underway to transport the bodies of the victims back to the United States, as friends, family, and supporters mourn the devastating loss of these dedicated missionaries who lost their lives while selflessly serving those in need.
