Gas station employee killed during robbery

STOCKTON, CA – The hunt is still on for at least two individuals suspected of robbing a Stockton gas station and killing an employee. The crime occurred on Thursday at the ‘ampm’ gas station located on Frontage Road in Stockton, leaving the community in fear and sorrow.

The incident unfolded when multiple armed suspects entered the establishment, leading to a robbery and subsequent altercation, according to David Scott, a Stockton Police Department spokesperson. The confrontation escalated, culminating in the shooting of an employee, 50-year-old Mohammed Shahzad, in the torso area. The suspects fled the scene in a car and remain at large.

Regular customer, Rob Clark reacted to the incident, stating, “It’s just tragic, tragic news.” He added his fears about the suspects still being at large.

Despite the gas station reopening to the public, customers claim it’s not the same without Shahzad, whose kindness was especially appreciated by Neil Dekker, a friend of the victim dealing with homelessness. “Mohammed…he would help out anybody. If I needed something to drink or something to eat, he would help you out if you didn’t have money.”

With hopes for swift justice, Clark appealed to the perpetrators. He made a statement prompting them to turn themselves in.
