Seattle, Washington – Susan Buckner, best known for her role as Patty Simcox in the iconic 1978 movie musical “Grease,” passed away at the age of 72. Her daughter, Samantha Mansfield, described her as a beloved mother and a source of inspiration. Buckner’s publicist confirmed her death, although the cause has not been disclosed.

At the age of 25, Buckner portrayed the spirited cheerleader Patty Simcox in “Grease,” alongside stars like John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Her character’s catchy cheers quickly made her a fan favorite with lines like, “Do the splits, give a yell! … Show a little spirit for old Rydell!”

Following her success in “Grease,” Buckner transitioned to television, appearing in shows like The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, The Love Boat, and BJ and the Bear. She also co-starred in the ABC series When the Whistle Blows, which ran for one season. Later on, Buckner took a break from acting to focus on raising her two children, while also directing theatrical productions and working as a fitness instructor.

Born in January 1952, Buckner was crowned Miss Washington in 1971, representing her state in a national pageant the following year. She had a passion for music and songwriting, performing in various musical groups and even showcasing her dancing and synchronized swimming skills on The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.
