Residents of Marina del Rey, California, found themselves in a harrowing situation over the weekend as an armed individual opened fire on the rooftop of an apartment complex, prompting a three-hour lockdown that left many terrified and seeking refuge in their bathrooms.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to reports of gunfire emanating from the complex located on Via Marina at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday night.
The situation escalated as law enforcement officials observed a man on the roof firing multiple rounds from a rifle, prompting an extensive response to contain the situation and ensure the safety of residents within the complex.
