Los Angeles, California – Beloved entertainment journalist Sam Rubin, a prominent figure on KTLA, succumbed to a fatal heart attack following hospitalization in May, a coroner’s report disclosed Tuesday. The 64-year-old Hollywood reporter’s demise was attributed to ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, as determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Rubin’s death was classified as natural, with the underlying cause being a lethal heartbeat resulting from inadequate blood and oxygen supply to the heart. Ischemic heart disease, also known as Coronary Heart Disease, ranks among the leading causes of death globally, affecting about 126 million people and leading to nine million deaths annually, with men being more prone to its effects than women.
The entertainment industry lost a pioneer in Rubin, who started his journey with KTLA in 1991 and held the position of weekday entertainment anchor for over three decades. His influence extended beyond television, having received prestigious accolades such as the Impact Award from the National Hispanic Media Coalition and the best entertainment reporter recognition from the Los Angeles Press Club.
