High school graduate shot moments after her ceremony

BOSTON, MA – A teenage girl was shot in broad daylight in Boston on Thursday, just after her high school graduation ceremony, according to local officials. The 18-year-old victim, whose name has not been disclosed, was located in the city’s Seaport section around 11:45 a.m. and promptly transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

The shooting took place shortly after the victim completed her graduation ceremony at Boston Collaborative High School in South Boston. Commenting on the incident, Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox mentioned the possibility of a preceding dispute.

While the investigation is ongoing, the police believe the shooting did not take place at the location where the victim was found. Additionally, there are no indications that the event occurred at the graduation ceremony.

Thus far, no arrests have been made, and law enforcement is actively seeking a suspect. Based on preliminary information, police believe it was not a random act and that there is no immediate threat to public safety.

Witnesses and anyone with information have been asked to get in touch with the Boston Police Department. The incident was labeled a “travesty” by Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden, who urged those involved to surrender themselves to police promptly.
