High school student stabbed in school bathroom

SNELLVILLE, GA – A student from Brookwood High School was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in a school bathroom. Another student was later arrested in connection with the incident.

Officials state that the altercation began late Thursday morning. School administrators discovered the injured student when they heard a commotion in the restroom. When they entered, they found a student with several stab wounds.

“Violence and this type of behavior will not be tolerated at Brookwood High School,” said Bernard Watson, spokesperson for the Gwinnett County School District.

According to reports, the suspect fled from the scene but was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood approximately 35 minutes later. Police also managed to recover a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

As of now, the condition of the victim, who has since undergone surgery, is unknown. The school district expressed hope for his speedy recovery. Brookwood High School Principal Brett Savage sent an email to parents and guardians. He informed parents of the incident and assured them of the victim’s progress.

Many students at Brookwood High School were unaware of the incident at the time. The school decided not to go into lockdown as they had already located the suspect and were tracking him shortly after the incident.

In an initial letter sent to families, the school reported finding an “injured” student, who had since been taken to a local hospital. In a following letter, Principal Savage confirmed that the student had been stabbed and another student was in custody. He also reassured parents that the school remained a safe environment.
