Homeless woman murders Hollywood consultant

LOS ANGELES, CA – A homeless woman has admitted to the murder of Michael Latt, a Hollywood consultant and social justice advocate, in a shocking case that has gripped the Los Angeles community. Jameelah Elena Michl, 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and other charges, acknowledging her role in the fatal shooting that took place last November.

Authorities revealed that Michl was in search of film director A.V. Rockwell when she arrived at Latt’s residence. Upon knocking on the door, she forced her way inside and shot Latt, 33, in the head. At least one other individual was present in the home during the incident, but Rockwell was not among them.

Court documents disclosed that Michl had previously sent a threatening letter to Rockwell, warning, “My Glock is loaded” and “One pull of the trigger, and I’ll be free.” Rockwell had sought a restraining order against Michl the previous year, highlighting the escalating tension that culminated in the tragic event.

Latt, a prominent figure in the social justice movement, was known for his work on impactful films such as “Fruitvale Station” and “Till.” He was the CEO and CFO of Lead With Love, a marketing firm dedicated to supporting influential women and artists of color. His efforts aimed to spark lasting change through storytelling and art.

In addition to his professional achievements, Latt was an active participant in social justice protests, including the Black Lives Matter movement. He frequently voiced his support for Democratic political candidates and advocated against police violence and white supremacy.

Latt’s death has left a void in the Hollywood and social justice communities. His mother, Michelle Satter, an executive at the Sundance Institute, expressed her grief on social media, describing her son’s death as a “tragic act of violence.” Latt’s family, well-connected in the entertainment industry, continues to mourn his loss.

Michl faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 10, where the court will determine her fate.
