Hospitalized: Haiti’s Newly Selected Prime Minister Hospitalized in Port-au-Prince – Click to Find Out Why!

Port-au-Prince, Haiti – Newly appointed Prime Minister Garry Conille of Haiti was hospitalized in the capital city of Port-au-Prince over the weekend, just days after assuming his new role. The reason for Conille’s hospitalization remains undisclosed.

According to a statement from the prime minister’s office, Conille began feeling unwell after a strenuous week of activities, but his condition was described as stable. Visitors who came to see him were thanked for their well wishes. Louis GĂ©rald Gilles, a member of the transitional presidential council that recently selected Conille, was present at the hospital but unable to provide further details to the press.

A source close to Conille, who requested anonymity, mentioned that the prime minister, who deals with asthma and occasionally uses an inhaler, seemed to have difficulty breathing. High-ranking officials were alerted, leading to Conille being taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Despite the challenges faced by Haiti’s newly appointed leader, Conille has been actively engaging with officials and different sectors in Port-au-Prince since his arrival. Following a disrupted selection process, Conille took office on May 28 and is tasked with addressing the country’s destabilizing gang violence as preparations are made for the deployment of a Kenyan police force, delayed due to the vacant prime ministerial position after Ariel Henry’s resignation on April 25.

Previously serving as Haiti’s prime minister from 2011 to 2012, Conille’s return to the country was met with various official visits, including tours of the recently reopened international airport and meetings with private sector leaders. He has also been participating in discussions with the transitional council to determine the composition of Haiti’s new Cabinet.

As Haiti navigates through a complex political landscape and ongoing security challenges, Conille’s commitment to engaging with multiple stakeholders and addressing pressing issues will be crucial in rebuilding stability and advancing the country’s development.
