Hospitalized Harvey Weinstein Remains in Custody in NYC – What Happened Next Will Shock You

New York City, New York – Following the overturning of his 2020 rape conviction in New York, disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized, his lawyer confirmed. Arthur Aidala revealed that Weinstein was transferred to a Manhattan hospital due to deteriorating health conditions, despite remaining in custody following a separate rape conviction in Los Angeles.

Aidala expressed concerns about Weinstein’s health, describing him as “somewhat of a train wreck health-wise” and emphasizing the need for significant medical assistance. The decision to hospitalized Weinstein was made by the New York City Department of Correction, citing the necessity for immediate medical attention.

Weinstein, who has been in custody at Bellevue Hospital, was recently moved from the Mohawk Correctional Facility to the Rikers Island jail complex. His legal team has previously highlighted his ongoing health struggles, including diabetes, sleep apnea, and heart and eye issues, which resulted in a hospital stay in 2020 due to heart problems and chest pains.

Aidala is scheduled to meet with Weinstein before his upcoming court appearance, as the fallout from the New York Court of Appeals’ decision to overturn his conviction continues. The court ruled that Weinstein did not receive a fair trial during the #MeToo case, leading to a new trial being ordered based on the inclusion of witnesses whose accusations were not part of the original charges against him.

Weinstein was previously convicted in 2020 of sexually assaulting a former production assistant in 2006 and raping a former aspiring actress in 2013, resulting in a 23-year prison sentence. His defense team maintained that the encounters were consensual, while in a separate case in California, Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years for raping an Italian model and actress in 2013 at a Beverly Hills hotel.
