House fire leaves 5 dead, including 4 young kids

JEANNETTE, PA – In a late-night fire incident in Jeannette, four children and their father tragically lost their lives, the Westmoreland County coroner confirmed. The fire broke out around midnight on Wednesday, engulfing a Guy Street residence inhabited by two parents and their six minor children. The coroner named the deceased as 27-year-old Tyler King, 7-year-old Kyson John, 6-year-old Kinzleigh John, 3-year-old Keagan John, and 1-month-old Korbyn John.

Miranda John, the mother, along with 10-year-old Kayden John and 1-year-old Kash John, were rescued from the inferno. Family members shared that while the mother is in stable condition, the two boys have been admitted to the ICU in critical condition.

Fire Chief Bill Frye recounted that the fire had rapidly engulfed the house by the time the first responders arrived at the scene, complicating rescue efforts. The fire also spread to a neighboring house, leading to its evacuation. However, no injuries were reported from that house.

First responders and officials have expressed their deep sorrow at the tragedy. Neighbor Jack Mull, a long-time community member whose grandchildren played with the deceased children, praised the family, calling them “just good people.”

As firefighters and the state police fire marshal work to determine the cause of the blaze, the Red Cross is stepping in to offer support to those impacted.
