Atlanta, Georgia: Coca-Cola is set to launch a new “spiced” variety of its famous original recipe, marking the company’s first permanent new flavor in over three years. This new concoction is described by the Atlanta-based soda giant as a blend of the classic Coca-Cola taste with refreshing notes of raspberry and spiced flavors.
The new variety, dubbed Coca-Cola Spiced, will be available in both regular and zero-sugar versions and will hit the shelves on Feb. 19. It will come in several packaging options, including 12-ounce cans, 12-packs, 10-packs of mini cans, 20-ounce bottles, six-packs of half-liter bottles, and 2-liter bottles. The labeling will feature magenta stripes on the iconic bright red Coca-Cola hue.
Shakir Moin, Coca-Cola’s North America marketing chief, expressed that the introduction of Coca-Cola Spiced is in response to the evolving taste preferences of consumers. He emphasized that the market is changing rapidly, prompting the need for companies to adapt and innovate more swiftly.
This new flavor is part of Coca-Cola’s efforts to engage with younger consumers, following the 2022 launch of Coca-Cola Creations, which included limited edition flavors featuring coconut, strawberry, and watermelon. The company is also introducing a special “Happy Tears” drink with salt and mineral flavors available for purchase exclusively through TikTok.
Moin revealed that the development of Coca-Cola Spiced was a rapid process, taking only seven weeks instead of the usual year-long timeframe. He emphasized the need for companies to keep up with the pace of the market and to cater to the changing demands of consumers.
Coca-Cola’s latest move reflects the ongoing competition and innovation within the soft drink industry, as companies seek to capture market share and appeal to shifting consumer preferences.
