Los Angeles, California – Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence has secured a deal with Apple Original Films for the upcoming murder mystery film, “The Wives.” In a competitive acquisition, Apple will not only distribute the film but also have Lawrence on board as a producer for the project.
Co-produced by Apple Studio and A24, “The Wives” will also feature producers Justine Ciarrocchi for Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver, Jeremy O. Harris, known for “Zola” and “Slave Play,” and Josh Godfrey from “Manchester by the Sea” and “Suspiria.”
Although specific plot details are being kept under wraps, sources suggest that the film takes inspiration from reality TV show “Real Housewives.” The script for “The Wives” will be penned by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, known for their work on “Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.”
Lawrence, known for her roles in acclaimed projects like “No Hard Feelings” and “Causeway,” has recently delved into producing with the documentary “Bread & Roses.” Lawrence’s production company, Excellent Cadaver, will also be involved in bringing “The Wives” to the screen.
Meanwhile, Jeremy O. Harris, recognized for his Tony-nominated play “Slave Play,” continues to expand his creative endeavors with a diverse range of projects, including documentaries and series development for major networks like FX and HBO.
Apple’s forthcoming lineup includes a star-studded cast for “Fly Me to the Moon,” with Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, as well as exciting thrillers like Jon Watts’ “Wolfs” and Doug Liman’s “The Instigators,” starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. The company is also collaborating with renowned figures like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Steve McQueen on various projects.
Represented by LBI Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Lawrence and her team at Excellent Cadaver are enthusiastic about their collaboration with Apple for “The Wives.” On the other hand, Breslin, Foley, and Harris have secured representation from top agencies as they work on bringing this mysterious project to life on screen.
