BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – Travel plans were disrupted for passengers on two JetBlue planes after the jets collided on the tarmac at Logan Airport on Thursday morning.
According to a statement from the airline, a JetBlue plane was entering the de-icing pad lane when it came into contact with the tail of another JetBlue plane at an adjacent pad, causing damage to one plane’s winglet and the other’s tail section.
Despite the collision, no passengers or crew members were injured, and both planes were promptly taken out of service for repairs. JetBlue emphasized that safety is their priority and they are committed to determining the cause of the incident.
Passengers on the affected flights were informed that they would be flying out on alternative aircraft. Furthermore, photos shared by passengers depicted visible damage to the wing of one of the jets.
Dave Sauter, a passenger on one of the flights, recounted the incident, stating that his flight was bound for Las Vegas and was full at the time of the collision. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the collision and announced that they will be conducting an investigation into the matter.
The incident caused the cancellation of two flights – one to Las Vegas and the other to Orlando. The collision occurred around 6:40 a.m. while the planes were on the deicing pad at Boston Logan International Airport.
Additional information regarding the incident is being sought from Massport by Boston 25.
As the situation continues to unfold, updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available. Any further developments or findings from the FAA investigation will be reported once released.
