Juneteenth event ends in shooting with 2 dead, 14 injured

ROUND ROCK, TX – In an unfortunate turn of events, a Juneteenth event at a park in Texas became a site of chaos and bloodshed late on Saturday as gunfire erupted. The shooting ended in two deaths and injuries to at least 14 individuals. The incident took place just before 11 p.m. at the Old Settlers Park, located in Round Rock, a city around 19 miles north of Austin.

According to details shared by Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks, the shooting originated due to an altercation between two groups during a concert that was part of the Juneteenth event at the park. The Juneteenth celebration was advertised as a family-friendly, free event.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of a vendor area, away from the main stage. The two victims who lost their lives to the shooting were, unfortunately, bystanders and had no involvement in the initial altercation.

The current description of the suspect in the mass shooting event describes him as around 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slender body type and short dreadlocks.

After the shooting took place, police officers and fire department personnel who were present immediately started offering emergency medical care to the wounded individuals. A total of 14 victims were found with gunshot wounds and were subsequently transported to local hospitals. Among the survivors, six people, including two children, were seriously injured and are currently under treatment at local trauma facilities.

The investigation into this unfortunate shooting incident is ongoing.
