Sag Harbor, Long Island – After being arrested for driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons last month, singer Justin Timberlake found himself in a bizarre situation where his drinking buddy offered to drive his rental car to her house. The incident occurred after Timberlake, known for hits like “SexyBack” and “My Love,” was pulled over in Sag Harbor for running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. Despite his friend also being intoxicated, she took it upon herself to drive Timberlake’s car to her property following his arrest.
The unnamed woman, who had allegedly been drinking with Timberlake that night, even asked the arresting officer if he was going to arrest the pop star. She then proposed driving Timberlake to her home so he could spend the night and sober up. However, the officer did not allow Timberlake to leave with her. Instead, the woman sought permission from the police to drive the rental car to her house on Timberlake’s behalf, given that he was being taken to jail.
Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., is working to have the case dismissed by arguing that the police officers made a mistake by allowing the woman to drive the car despite her own intoxication. Burke plans to present this argument to the judge as part of his efforts to get the case thrown out. It is unclear how the court will respond to these claims as the legal proceedings continue.
In the midst of the legal drama, Burke Jr. has insisted that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the time of his arrest, expressing confidence that the criminal charge will ultimately be dismissed. The singer himself did not attend a recent court appearance, as he was busy performing as part of his world tour in Poland. Despite the ongoing legal issues, Timberlake continues to focus on his music career while navigating the repercussions of his arrest in Sag Harbor.
