Katy Perry Drops Shocking Bombshell on American Idol: “My Last Season”

Los Angeles, California – After a seven-season run as a judge on the talent show American Idol, Katy Perry has announced her departure from the popular TV show. The 39-year-old singer made the revelation during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, stating that the current season would likely be her last.

Perry, who has been a judge on the ABC show since 2018, expressed her desire to explore the world and hinted at the release of new music as reasons for her decision to leave the show. Despite her departure, she did not completely rule out a potential return in the future, stating, “Maybe I’ll come back if they have me one day.”

The announcement comes ahead of the premiere of American Idol’s twenty-second season, where Perry will join co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. She shared that her fellow judges were supportive of her decision and acknowledged her yearning to explore new opportunities.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Perry also addressed a viral moment from her trying to find her seat at the Coronation Service in Westminster Abbey, adding a touch of humor to the conversation.

Perry, who shot to fame in 2008 with the song “I Kissed A Girl”, released her latest album “Smile” in 2020. She joined American Idol in its sixteenth season as part of its reboot on ABC in 2018, following in the footsteps of previous judges like Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj.

Perry is married to actor Orlando Bloom and the couple has a three-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove.
