Lancaster, California – Two individuals lost their lives while others sustained injuries in a tragic shooting incident in a residential area in northern Los Angeles County, revealed authorities to KTLA. The gunfire transpired just previous to 6 p.m. along E Avenue J-12 in Lancaster. Limited details have been provided regarding the events leading to the fatal occurrence, but per freelance photojournalist Luis Meza, the shooting broke out while a group of men were gathered outside an apartment complex in that location.
Following the incident, the scene was inundated with a significant presence of L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators. Among the visible remnants were bloodstains on the pavement outside the apartment complex and shell casings scattered along the street. In a news release, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that two victims were taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased.
Additionally, at least six other individuals who had suffered gunshot wounds drove themselves to the hospital, as reported by Meza. He also mentioned the presence of two shooters, one armed with a 9mm handgun and the other with an AR-15 rifle. This shooting marks the fourth occurrence within a 24-hour span in Lancaster, following three incidents the previous night that resulted in two fatalities and one injured person.
The sheriff’s department has not yet verified the information provided by Meza, and inquiries to determine a possible connection between the shootings remain ongoing.
