Man charged with murder after body of college student discovered in towed car trunk

EDENTON, NC – A man from Edenton, North Carolina, is facing murder charges for allegedly killing a woman whose body was discovered in the trunk of his car. The vehicle, which was parked in a private lot, was towed and the horrific discovery was made by an employee of the towing company.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) revealed that the vehicle belonged to Jordan Isaiah Thomas. The body was found on January 17 in Beaufort County. The victim is suspected to be a 19-year-old student from Elizabeth City State University. However, official identification and cause of death are still pending from the medical examiner’s office.

The vehicle was found parked at a private company’s lot along U.S. Highway 264 in Washington, North Carolina. After the body was found, an investigation was launched which led detectives to believe that Thomas had abandoned his car in the lot and stolen a truck from the same location.

The stolen truck was later located at a hospital in Washington, North Carolina, where Thomas was also found and subsequently arrested. Investigators are working on the theory that the murder took place at a different location, possibly at a residence in Edenton where Thomas resided. The exact location of the murder is still under investigation.

According to the NCSBI, Thomas and the victim were acquaintances. Thomas is currently facing charges of murder, motor vehicle theft, and concealing a person’s death.

The investigation into this case continues.
