Man charged with murder after girlfriend’s body found in apartment closet

DALLAS, TX – A Texas resident, Omar Lucio, 34, is facing murder charges following the discovery of his girlfriend’s body concealed in his apartment closet, as indicated by court records.

Lucio was apprehended on April 15, accused of the murder of Corinna Johnson, 27. The Garland Police Department alerted the Dallas Police Department after receiving a distress call from a woman claiming another woman was beaten to death and concealed in an apartment on W. Wheatland Road.

Upon arrival, police encountered Lucio in the apartment. He initially resisted arrest but eventually surrendered after an hour.

Following his arrest, officers entered the apartment and traced a blood trail from the entrance, through the bathroom, and into a bedroom closet. Inside the closet, they discovered Johnson’s body, wrapped in Lucio’s bedding.

Further inquiries led officers to Lucio’s car in the parking lot, where they found blood-stained clothes.

The woman who reported the crime told investigators she had gone to Lucio’s apartment after he requested her assistance. Lucio allegedly told her that he and Johnson had been drinking and were expelled from a bar due to Johnson’s behavior. He claimed to have “knocked some sense” into Johnson, rendering her unconscious.

The woman reported seeing Johnson’s lifeless body in the bathroom, her face bruised and bloodied. She alerted the police the following day.

During an interview with investigators, Lucio reportedly confessed to losing control and assaulting Johnson with his bare hands in the car.

Detectives noted injuries on Lucio’s hands, blood under his fingernails, and on his left shoe. However, he did not explain how Johnson’s body ended up in his closet, wrapped in his bedding.

Johnson’s family had reportedly been encouraging her to leave Lucio, with whom she had a six-year relationship. They expressed concern over her frequent return home with black eyes and bruises.

Lucio is currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail, facing charges of murder, street racing, and involvement in a collision causing bodily injury.
