Man dies in stabbing outside of bar

BAY RIDGE, NY – A Pennsylvania man was found fatally stabbed outside a bar in Bay Ridge early Sunday, according to law enforcement. The 37-year-old victim, whose identity is being withheld until his family is notified, was allegedly stabbed outside Catch 22 on Third Avenue in Brooklyn around 2:50 a.m.

Responding officers found the man with a torso wound and quickly transported him to NYU Langone Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, authorities confirmed. Currently, police have made no arrests tied to the incident.

Surveillance video from the area displays the grim scene: the victim appearing on his knees after the stabbing, surrounded by slowly gathering bystanders. The blood stain and handprint left on the concrete provide a grim reminder of the violence.

The victim’s acquaintances, who were interviewed by police, said the attack was not random.

Residents expressed their concerns about the bar, tagging it as a hot spot for unruly behavior. “The place is always crazy, always an argument outside,” shared one female resident. Other locals shared similar sentiments, calling for the bar’s closure.

Moses Alhusaini, manager of M&S Minimarket located across the street from the bar, spoke of his shock at the scene caused by the city cruisers’ arrival. Alhusaini, who had witnessed numerous issues at the bar during the pandemic, was surprised at the recent event, stating that the owner was seemingly taking the issues seriously.

As potential leads are investigated and the surrounding neighborhood grapples with the deadly incident, details about the stabbing are still unclear.
