Man killed and two teens injured in triple shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A fatal shooting incident occurred in Southeast D.C. Wednesday night, resulting in one death and two injuries, one of whom is a minor.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., with the police responding to reports of a shooting on the 3400 block of Stanton Road SE, in close proximity to the Children’s National Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) hospital.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two adult males and a teenager, all of whom had suffered gunshot wounds. They were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police later confirmed the death of one of the victims, 26-year-old Amaru Cureton, a resident of Southeast D.C. Cureton succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

The other victims, an unidentified adult male and a teenager, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment.

Law enforcement officials are seeking assistance from the public in their ongoing investigation. They have encouraged anyone with information to contact them at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
