Man robs three homes over three months

MEMPHIS, TN – A local Memphis man was apprehended by authorities on Saturday, following a series of home invasions that spanned three months. Leroy Moody, 42, is facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated burglary and theft of property ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. The charges stem from a string of burglaries between February and April.

The first incident took place on February 26 around 6:10 p.m. on Castleman Street. Upon returning home, the victim discovered signs of forced entry. She informed the police that her home surveillance system had captured footage of a silver vehicle in her driveway and an unidentified man sporting blue jeans and a baseball cap under her carport. A quick inventory revealed that her television and various pieces of jewelry were missing.

Law enforcement officers reviewed additional footage from a nearby school in Wooddale, which allowed them to identify the vehicle as a Buick LaCrosse.

The second break-in occurred on March 6 around 4:30 p.m. on Quince Road. The female homeowner reported to the police that her home had been burglarized, with her wedding rings stolen from her nightstand. Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s camera revealed a silver Buick parked in her driveway.

The final burglary took place on April 12, around 1:05 p.m. on Boyce Avenue. The male victim reported a break-in, with a television, seven pairs of Jordans, and a speaker missing from his property. Surveillance footage from a neighbor showed a man in a silver Buick with Tennessee license plates.

Upon running the license plates, police discovered that the vehicle was registered to a woman who had previously reported that she had sold the car to Moody and that he had taken her license plates after she had removed them from the car. Further investigation led to the positive identification of Moody as the perpetrator of the three burglaries.

Moody was taken into custody on Saturday and is currently being held on a $40,000 bond.
