Man shoots his wife, chases after her ambulance

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A domestic dispute escalated to a deadly shooting in a St. Petersburg home on Wednesday night, which later unfolded into a high-speed chase of an ambulance by the alleged shooter, according to the local police.

The incident began around 10:25 p.m. at a residence on 29th Avenue North near US-19 and 66th Street North. Devin Hansen, 28, and his wife Yasmin Grijalva, 35, were visiting family when a heated argument prompted Hansen to allegedly shoot his wife.

When medical responders reached the site, Hansen had already vacated the premises driving a black Cadillac CTS. Grievously injured, Grijalva was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, accompanied by a police official.

In an unexpected turn of events, Hansen reportedly began pursuing the ambulance on the interstate in his Cadillac. Local law enforcement initiated a chase to intercept Hansen, who continued to tail the ambulance for about 11 miles south of the shooting scene.

Eventually, Hansen’s Cadillac crashed into large landscaping rocks on 54th Avenue South near Lakewood High School, marking an end to the pursuit. Authorities apprehended him on the crash scene.

Unfortunately, Grijalva succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Consequently, Hansen now stands charged with first-degree murder, fleeing and eluding, and domestic battery. Investigations surrounding the case are still underway.
