Man Shot By Malden Police After Assault and Robbery – Shocking Details Uncovered!

Malden, Massachusetts – A man was shot by police after allegedly assaulting and robbing a woman and engaging in an altercation with officers. The incident occurred on Eastern Avenue, near the intersection of Warren Avenue, at around 9:15 a.m. Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan’s Office reported that the suspect, identified as Dominique Matthew Long, 31, of Malden, was involved in a confrontation with a woman and brandished a knife, according to witnesses.

The 43-year-old female victim was attacked by Long, who threw a cup at her and then struck her in the head. When she attempted to record the incident on her iPad, Long took it from her and displayed a knife. Long then proceeded to threaten another individual with the same weapon. When confronted by multiple officers, Long refused to drop the items he was carrying and instead pulled out a kitchen-style knife, advancing towards the officers. Despite attempts to subdue Long using a Taser, he was shot by another officer.

Witnesses described a tense situation, with officers repeatedly instructing Long to drop the weapon before resorting to gunfire. Long was responsive at the scene and later taken to a hospital in Boston in stable condition. A police officer and the woman involved were also treated and released. Long faces several charges including armed robbery, assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness.

Family members of Long described him as a friendly and non-threatening individual who had recently secured a new job. The incident is currently under investigation by authorities, including the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, and local Malden police.
