Man shot dead during argument with his brother

EDGEMERE, NY – A domestic dispute between brothers culminated in a fatal shooting by police officers in the Edgemere neighborhood of Queens on Monday. The incident took place around 11 a.m. at an apartment building on Beach 51st Street.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene following a 911 call that reported a shooting. The gunfire allegedly broke out during a disagreement between two brothers.

When the authorities arrived, police officers confronted one of the brothers who was inside a back bedroom. They knocked on the door and engaged in conversation through the closed door for several minutes, according to officials.

The situation took a deadly turn when officers entered the room. The man allegedly pointed a weapon at the officers, who, after issuing repeated commands to drop it, opened fire on the man. Despite immediate efforts to provide medical aid, the man succumbed to gunshot injuries upon arrival at a local hospital shortly before noon.

The involved officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation following the incident. During the subsequent investigation, it was suggested that the weapon brandished by the deceased may have been an imitation firearm, though this detail is still under investigation.

According to police, the deceased had no prior interactions with law enforcement.
