Man shot dead for trimming trees on his neighbor’s property

DELEON SPRINGS, FL – A 78-year-old man from DeLeon Springs, Florida, is facing criminal charges after allegedly shooting his neighbor over a property dispute. Edward Druzolowski was arrested on Monday following the incident which occurred on Sunday evening. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of Edward Druzolowski on charges of second-degree murder.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Alameda Drive near State Road 11 in DeLeon Springs. The dispute arose when Druzolowski confronted Ford about allegedly trespassing on his property.

The Sheriff’s Office received two emergency calls reporting a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, deputies found 42-year-old Brian Ford, who had been trimming tree limbs along the fence line between his property and Druzolowski’s. According to the sheriff’s office, Druzolowski warned Ford that he would shoot him if he did not leave his property. When Ford did not comply, Druzolowski allegedly shot him.

The first deputies to arrive at the scene attempted to save Ford’s life, but he was later pronounced dead. Druzolowski was taken into custody and is being held without bond, according to jail records. Despite the severity of the incident, Druzolowski had no previous criminal record in Volusia County. Charges are still pending as deputies continue to investigate the fatal shooting incident.
