Man shot up while driving crashes with three kids in the car

CHICAGO, IL – A tragic incident unfolded early Wednesday morning in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, when a 30-year-old man was fatally shot and subsequently crashed his vehicle into a T-Mobile store. The man, identified as Christian Ruiz, was waiting at a red light when a dark-colored vehicle approached, and three unidentified individuals began firing at him.

Despite sustaining a chest wound, Ruiz attempted to escape his assailants, resulting in his SUV crashing into the nearby store. Miraculously, the three children present in the car at the time of the shooting and crash, aged 8, 6, and 3, remained unharmed.

Ruiz was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Friends and acquaintances of Ruiz remembered him as a family-oriented individual. A high school friend, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her shock and grief over the incident.

The aftermath of the tragic event has left the community, as well as Ruiz’s family and friends, grappling with their loss. The friend expressed her sorrow, extending her heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the assailants fled the scene, heading down W. Cermack Road and S. Rockwell Street. No arrests have been made so far, and Area Three detectives are currently investigating the incident.
