Gun-wielding hero halts brutal restaurant assault

A man legally carrying a firearm intervened in a violent assault at a Texas eatery, shooting an assailant who had reportedly knocked an older man unconscious in the restroom. The incident occurred at Woody’s Smokehouse in Centerville, Texas, on the afternoon of August 14, as reported by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Craig Anderson from Houston, approximately 115 miles south of Centerville, allegedly entered the barbecue restaurant in a disruptive manner, confronting several customers aggressively. The situation escalated when Anderson entered the restroom and reportedly began assaulting an elderly man, knocking him unconscious and continuing the attack.

An armed bystander, who had a license to carry a firearm, intervened in an attempt to stop Anderson from further assaulting the unconscious man. However, Anderson allegedly redirected his aggression towards the armed man, knocking him to the ground and turning his assault towards the armed man.

In response, the armed man drew his weapon and fired two shots at Anderson during the attack. Anderson, who was hit in the right arm, fled the scene in a vehicle. He was later found by authorities in his car on the shoulder of a nearby highway and airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with both the sheriff’s department and Texas Rangers involved, according to local media reports.
