Maryland woman dismembered her boyfriend

GREAT MILLS, MD – A Maryland woman has been found guilty of the brutal murder and dismemberment of her boyfriend, with his remains scattered across various locations. Michelina Desiree Goodwin, 46, was convicted of second-degree murder, unauthorized disposal of a body, and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The verdict came after an eight-day trial for the murder of 50-year-old James Volodimir Nalborczyk.

The family of Nalborczyk first reported him missing on December 21, 2022, after last seeing him on December 7 of the same year, according to the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s office. As weeks passed, the missing person case evolved into a homicide investigation, with Goodwin emerging as a prime suspect.

During an interrogation in January 2023, Goodwin confessed to a heated argument with Nalborczyk at her residence, which culminated in his accidental shooting. She further admitted to dismembering his body and disposing of the remains in remote areas of St. Mary’s and Charles counties.

State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling commented on the shocking nature of the crime, stating that it had caused unimaginable pain to the victim’s family and rocked the community. Sterling highlighted the graphic circumstances of the victim’s final moments and the gruesome post-mortem mutilation that the jury and the victim’s family had to endure during the eight-day trial.

Goodwin is currently being held without bail, awaiting a sentencing hearing. She faces a maximum sentence of 61 years in prison for her crimes.
