Mass shooting leaves 4 dead, 5 others shot at biker bar

A mass shooting took place on Wednesday night at a bar in California. Deputies and medical personnel swiftly responded to the scene, where four individuals, including the shooter, were confirmed dead. Additionally, six people were transported to hospitals, five of whom had sustained gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at Cook’s Corner, a popular biker bar in the area.

Authorities suspect that the shooting originated from a domestic dispute, with the shooter specifically targeting his wife or estranged wife. Notably, a deputy-involved shooting also took place during the response, but no deputies were harmed. The alleged shooter is believed to be a former law enforcement officer from outside the area.

Social media posts captured the massive response by deputies and Orange County Fire Authority personnel. At the scene of the shooting, multiple bodies could be seen covered by sheets. Witnesses shared videos and photos depicting the chaotic aftermath, with emergency personnel attending to the injured. One witness, Betty Fruichantie, recounted her close encounter with the shooter, expressing gratitude for having escaped unharmed.

Lake Forest Mayor Doug Cirbo, who resides near Cook’s Corner, described the scene as chaotic, with numerous sheriff’s units present. Despite its reputation as a biker bar, Cook’s Corner is known for its welcoming atmosphere, attracting families as well. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office confirmed his monitoring of the situation and coordination with local officials. Law enforcement established a command post at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest to manage the incident.
