Max Launch Date Revealed for 20 European Countries – Includes Ad-Supported Plan and Sports Add-On!

Lyon, France – JB Perrette, president/CEO of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, made an exciting announcement at the Series Mania Festival regarding the launch of Max across the first 20 European countries on May 21st.

The standalone streaming service, Max, is set to combine content from HBO Max, Discovery, and Eurosport and will kick off its European roll-out in the Nordics, Iberia, and Central and Eastern Europe. While specific launch dates for countries like France, Poland, the Netherlands, and Belgium were not disclosed, Perrette assured that they will happen before the start of the Olympic Games on July 26th.

Max will offer both a basic plan with ads at a lower price point and a premium plan that allows for full HD or 4K streaming on up to 4 devices simultaneously, along with the option to download up to 100 pieces of content. Pricing details will be revealed later and will vary across different countries. The basic ad-supported plan will initially be available in nine countries, including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Romania, Poland, France, and Belgium.

In addition to providing extensive coverage of the Olympic Games through Eurosport in 25 markets, Max will introduce a Sports Add-On featuring major international and European sporting events such as tennis tournaments, cycling races, and winter sports championships. The European launch of Max aligns with the premiere of the second season of the HBO Original series “House of the Dragon” on June 17th.

With plans to make Max accessible in 25 European countries and 65 countries worldwide, Warner Bros. Discovery aims to bring together a wide range of entertainment options into one platform. Perrette emphasized that Max will offer unparalleled content ranging from “House of the Dragon” to the Olympic Games Paris 2024, catering to a diverse audience’s preferences.

Finally, flagship live linear networks like CNN International, TVN, TV Norge, Kanal 5, and Eurosport will be available on Max in select countries and plans. The launch of Max signifies a significant step for Warner Bros. Discovery as they expand their streaming services to a global audience, promising a wealth of entertainment options for viewers across various regions.
