MEASLES ALERT: Visitor from Chicago tests positive in Cincinnati – Were you exposed? Find out now!

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Cincinnati Health Department has confirmed that an individual visiting from out of town has tested positive for measles. The visitor flew from Illinois to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and then traveled to the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati via a Lyft ride on the evening of Wednesday, April 10th.

Moreover, the visitor also stopped at Morton’s Steakhouse on the same night to place a takeout order. The health department has issued a warning stating that individuals who were present at either the Hyatt Regency or Morton’s between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on April 10th may have been exposed to measles.

If individuals who were present during that time frame develop symptoms such as high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and a rash within three to five days, they are advised to isolate themselves until testing can be arranged. Concerned individuals can reach out to the Cincinnati Health Department for further guidance at 513-357-7462.

The Cincinnati Health Department also emphasized the importance of checking one’s immunity status. Vaccination with the MMR vaccine, usually administered during childhood, provides reliable immunity against measles. This recent measles case announcement occurred shortly after authorities reported no additional cases following a potential measles exposure at the Heritage Bank Center last month. Additionally, Cincinnati health officials noted a decreasing number of COVID-19 infections in the city, with transmission rates currently at a low level.

Overall, the health department urges individuals who may have been exposed to measles to monitor their health closely, follow isolation protocols if symptoms develop, and seek medical advice promptly. Checking vaccination status and staying informed about potential exposure risks remain critical in preventing the spread of infectious diseases in the community.
