Measles Outbreak Alert: Third Case Identified in Greene County – Were You Exposed?

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio – A third case of measles has been confirmed in Montgomery County, with potential exposure to residents in Greene County. The incident took place on Saturday, March 16 at Round1 Bowling and Amusement inside the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., as reported by Greene County Public Health.

Individuals who visited Round1 during the mentioned timeframe or were in the building up to two hours after the infected person departed may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus, according to health officials.

“This resurgence of measles is concerning, especially since the virus had been eliminated from our hemisphere,” stated Don Brannen of Greene County Public Health. The ease of transmission in unvaccinated individuals remains a significant risk, noted Dan Suffoletto of Public Health-Dayton and Montgomery County.

Symptoms of measles can include red eyes, runny nose, and a cough. Anyone who believes they may have been exposed is urged to monitor themselves for 21 days for any signs of illness.
