Measles Scare: Urgent Locations to Avoid in Los Angeles County – Stay Informed!

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Health officials have confirmed a case of measles in a non-Los Angeles County resident who traveled throughout the county two weekends ago. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was in Los Angeles County from Saturday, March 30, to Sunday, April 1.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health received notification about the case from the California Department of Public Health. Those who were at specific locations during the mentioned dates and times are being advised by health officials to monitor their health for any potential symptoms of measles within 21 days from the exposure date.

According to Dr. Muntu Davis, the Los Angeles County health officer, measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to severe complications, especially for young children and vulnerable adults. Symptoms typically start with fever, cough, red, watery eyes, and ultimately progresses to a rash.

Locations where the infected individual was present include the Sheraton Gateway Hotel Gym, Denny’s, Universal Studios, Buca Di Beppo, Cletus Chicken Shack, Lard Lad Doughnuts, EC Food Truck, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, Jack in the Box, Pier Gear, and El Torito Mexican Restaurant.

People who were at these locations are urged to confirm their vaccination status for measles. If they have not been vaccinated and have been exposed, they are at risk of contracting the disease. Those who have been symptom-free for more than 21 days are no longer considered at risk.

Additional locations where exposure may have occurred are currently under investigation by health officials. It is important for individuals to take necessary precautions and seek medical advice if they show any symptoms related to measles. Symptoms can start appearing even before the person knows they are infected, and thus early detection is crucial for preventing further spread of the disease.
