Men over 30 Flocking to Follow Preteen Instagram Influencer, Wall Street Journal Reveals the Shocking Details

A Midwest mother in Ohio encouraged her daughter to start an Instagram account, aiming to help her realize her dream of becoming a social media influencer. However, the mother was unaware that 92% of her daughter’s followers turned out to be older men, bringing about a dark and disturbing side to her daughter’s online presence.

The young girl, now a high school student and aspiring dancer, initially found success on Instagram by connecting with other young influencers. She even secured modeling opportunities and received free merchandise from top designer brands. Despite her achievements, a concerning trend emerged as the platform’s algorithms attracted men with inappropriate intentions towards children to her page.

In a special report by the Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that some men in dark web circles traded photos of underage girls, including those from the girl’s account, on encrypted messaging platforms like Telegram. The mother acknowledged the risks but justified them as a necessary part of the influencer industry, where engagement and likes determine success.

As the girl’s follower count surpassed 100,000, disturbing messages and comments from grown men began to flood her page. Even more troubling was the introduction of paid subscriptions for exclusive content, leading to an influx of ominous followers.

While the mother diligently monitored the account, filtering out inappropriate content and blocking offenders, the issue persisted. Meta, the company that owns Instagram, claimed to enforce age restrictions but struggles to prevent these predatory users from slipping through the cracks.

Despite the challenges, the young girl remains focused on her passion for content creation, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining a positive and age-appropriate image online. The mother’s efforts to safeguard her daughter’s online presence highlight the pervasive issue of older male followers targeting young influencers on social media platforms.
