Michael Jackson Biopic Photo Released – Tour Performer Uncannily Resembles King of Pop

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Lionsgate and Universal have released the first image from the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic “Michael,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and set to hit theaters in 2025. The photo features Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, portraying the King of Pop as he performs “Man in the Mirror” from the legendary 1992-1993 Dangerous Tour.

Captured by renowned photographer Kevin Mazur, the image offers a glimpse into Jaafar’s performance as he embodies the iconic singer. Mazur, known for his documentation of Michael Jackson, expressed his excitement about the project, comparing it to his experience of shooting the late singer during his “This Is It” concerts rehearsals. He praised Jaafar’s portrayal, stating, “When I walked onto the set, I felt like I’d gone back in time and I was walking into the stadium to shoot the tour. Seeing Jaafar perform, I thought, ‘Wow, it is Michael.’”

Producer Graham King also commended Jaafar’s performance, highlighting his ability to embody Michael Jackson in a unique and unparalleled way. Director Antoine Fuqua praised the entire team involved in the project, emphasizing the spirit of Michael Jackson that shines through Jaafar’s portrayal.

“Michael” is scheduled to be released on April 18, 2025 and is produced by Graham King/GK Films and written by John Logan. In addition to Lionsgate and Universal Pictures’ involvement, the movie is also backed by the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, John Branca and John McClain.
