Missing 5-year-old’s body found in sewer

COLUMBUS, OH – A grim discovery unfolded in Ohio early Friday morning as police discovered a body believed to be that of 5-year-old Darnell Taylor in a sewer drain, according to authorities.

Police Chief Elaine R. Bryant announced the news during a morning press conference, highlighting the tragic event. During her statement, she said, “We certainly hoped for a different outcome.”

The escalation began on Thursday evening around 9:38 p.m. when officers were dispatched regarding a suspicious woman wearing a nightgown roaming near a building. The woman was identified as 48-year-old Pammy Maye, the foster mother of the missing boy, and subsequently taken into custody, shared police Chief Bryant.

Maye reportedly required medical attention and was transported to a hospital in the Cleveland area for treatment. Upon conducting an interview with Maye, Columbus investigators learned of the potential location of the young boy’s body- in a sewer system.

The body was located shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Friday in a drainage sewer, confirmed Bryant.

Police had stated the boy was reported missing on Wednesday, which was shared at a Thursday press conference. The incident started to unfold when a man made an alarming 911 call claiming that his wife confessed to him, saying, “She had just killed our foster child.”

To aid in the search for the child, a statewide AMBER Alert was promptly issued. Chief Bryant confirmed that on Friday Darnell’s biological family had been made aware of the tragic findings by the law enforcement officers.
