Missing mom and 3-year-old son discovered dead

BEXAR COUNTY, TX – A missing 3-year-old boy, Kaiden Kriger, and his 32-year-old mother, Savannah Kriger, were discovered dead on Tuesday, leading Texas authorities to shift their search operation to a homicide investigation. The pair had been reported missing on Monday, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Savannah had left work early on Monday to collect Kaiden from daycare and take him to a doctor’s appointment. She was last seen leaving the daycare center in a white 2023 Lincoln Aviator around 2 p.m. The vehicle was later found abandoned at Tom Slick Park along State Highway 151.

Later on Monday, authorities were alerted to perform a welfare check at the Krigers’ home. Family members expressed their inability to contact Savannah, escalating their concern. Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that evidence found at the residence indicated potential danger to the missing mother and child.

After an overnight search, two bodies were discovered in a ditch behind the park on Tuesday morning. Though official identification is pending, Salazar indicated the bodies are believed to be those of Kaiden and Savannah. Evidence of gunshot wounds and a firearm recovered at the scene pointed towards a potential murder-suicide, though the investigation is still ongoing.

Sheriff Salazar also disclosed that Savannah is currently the main suspect, while no other potential suspects are being pursued. Additionally, it was revealed that there had been an ongoing custody battle surrounding Kaiden, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
