Missing Nashville singer found dead inside her car

CHATTANOOGA, TN – The sudden death of Nashville singer Teresa “Terri” Kathey, 71, has deeply affected her family, friends, and colleagues in the music world. Kathey’s body was discovered in her vehicle at the Monteagle Visitor’s Center near Chattanooga, ending days of anxiety after she inexplicably disappeared during a short trip to Chattanooga.

The circumstances of Kathey’s disappearance and subsequent death led to a two-day search. She had left for a day trip to Chatanooga and didn’t return. Law enforcement authorities found Kathey in her car at the visitor center, with her belongings intact, pointing towards a potential health-related situation that forced her to pull over.

Kathey’s pastor and friend of almost 20 years, Sandi Shupe of Music Valley Cowboy Church, also confirmed this suspicion, considering the evidence found at the scene.

Thomas Devine, Kathey’s associate from New Breed Music Group, fondly recollected his camaraderie with the deceased singer. He credited Kathey as the initiator of the record label’s exploration into the interplay of Christian and Blues music genres.

The International Singer-Songwriters Association had nominated Kathey for two awards in its latest edition. To honor her memory, the association plans to commemorate Kathey during their award ceremony in August. At this time, the official reason behind Kathey’s death is unknown, although early signs suggest natural causes.
