Mom accidentally runs over her toddler with car

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA, PA – A heartbreaking incident occurred in Northeast Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon. A woman unknowingly ran over her two-year-old child with her vehicle. This horrifying mistake resulted in the toddler’s tragic death, according to local law enforcement.

The incident took place on the 200 block of Comly Street in the city’s Crescentville neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. The mother, identified as a 31-year-old woman, was driving a blue Chevrolet Traverse when the unfortunate event occurred.

Officer Tanya Little of the Philadelphia Police Public Affairs confirmed in a statement that the woman had briefly double-parked outside of her home. At the time, she was attempting to unload her groceries from her car. After finishing the task, she went back out to move her vehicle.

However, her young daughter had unknowingly followed her mother outside of the home. As the mother was maneuvering her car, the toddler was accidentally hit by the vehicle.

The severely injured toddler was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. However, despite efforts of medical intervention, the child ultimately passed away. The area was soon closed off to traffic as investigators arrived on the scene to conduct their review.
